ok, maybe that’s an overstatement. but i’m only mildly impressed with picasa’s automagic facial tagging feature. i let it do it’s thing with default settings and, after naming at least one instance of every person in my photos, it only matched up a third of my photos with suggestions. don’t get me wrong, it’s nice that i don’t have to name those photos, but what about the remaining 2/3 of my library?

i tagged a few more thousand photos myself and lowered the automatic naming threshold by 20%, yet it only picked up another 1000 faces on its own. i think that’s pretty lame. i’m going to lower it some more to see what happens.

on the plus side, picasa found me a friend i never even knew i had! thanks google!
